While working on "No Way Back"**, the debut album by his band The Unplugged Brains, Mounir continues writing new material, drawing on everything he has learned from this first production experience. He wants to explore new directions and push things further.

Mounir does not wait for his band's album to be released before completing the writing and recording of a solo album, making the final production stages considerably faster. His intimate piano-and-vocal songs bring to mind Radiohead around the time of "A Moon Shaped Pool", while his Bowie influence also comes through in several surprisingly airy pop tracks.

With The Unplugged Brains, Mounir aimed for long, epic and experimental songs, almost like multi-stage rockets designed to send the listener into orbit. With his solo project, Untearable Roots, the goal is entirely different. On his solo album "Pieces of Life"**, the listener is taken in the opposite direction, towards introspection. The songs are short enough to make you want to press "repeat", and deliberately more modest in appearance so that each instrument can be given as much space as possible - in every sense of the word. Through this solo project, Mounir draws on his Super 8 memories and turns them into music with remarkable ease.
