After devoting his childhood and teenage years to the piano, Laurent Auffret (aka Enzo Clark) took up the guitar and founded Blue Chill in 2004 while at university, with a friend he had met a few years earlier in high school. As new people joined, the project gradually expanded into a full band in Brest, before continuing to evolve through departures, returns and new collaborations.

Over the years, musicians from different backgrounds have come and gone around Laurent, joining for a song, a concert, an album or several years of shared adventure. This constantly changing line-up gradually became one of Blue Chill's defining characteristics, as the project moved from alternative rock and shoegaze towards more acoustic and neo-folk forms, while remaining open to pop, electronic music and more experimental arrangements.

Across 5 albums and 3 EPs, Blue Chill has developed a sonic approach built on haunting and dissonant harmonies, with compositions that can be complex or stripped-down, epic or intimate, troubled or peaceful. Rather than fitting into one specific genre, the project seeks to bring different sensibilities together within a musical world shaped in particular by Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths and The Beatles.

Above all, Blue Chill is about musicians meeting and travelling part of the way together - sometimes for a single step, sometimes for two, sometimes for a much longer journey. Each person explores their own limits and brings their personality to a collective process orchestrated by Laurent, the band's self-described “benevolent dictator”. The artistic direction remains firmly defined, but the project is deliberately open: line-ups change, instruments change, and each new period can call the rules of the previous one into question. The door remains open.

Following the geographical dispersal of the band in the early 2010s, Blue Chill entered a new phase. In 2015, "Super 8" was released. Originally conceived as an album of around ten tracks, the project was gradually stripped back during production: only three songs were ultimately retained and approved, resulting in this EP.

In 2018, a remastered version of "Fake Memories", the band's fourth album, was released to mark its tenth anniversary.

After several years devoted mainly to production work and collaborations with other artists, Blue Chill fully came back to life in 2026. New sessions began around a project that had long remained unfinished, now revisited in the light of the years that had passed.
