"The Queen Is Dead" is the third album by The Smiths, released in 1986, but I only discovered it in 2002. Obsessed with the album, and then with the band, I wanted to make music of my own that was sincere, creative and ambitious. A few years later, its title became the name of the label.
The Queen Is Dead Records has its own home studio, set up according to my needs in Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine), but much of the work is also done remotely, with artists who may be based in Rennes, Lyon, Iceland or elsewhere.
A little like Motown, the famous American label of the 1960s, The Queen Is Dead Records chooses its artists and projects and gets involved in their development, with the aim of creating works that are as personal and original as possible.
Depending on the project, I may work as an artistic director, arranger, musician or sound engineer, or simply provide an outside perspective. There is no single right way to make music: the approach depends above all on the project, what is already there, and what it genuinely needs.
Hello,
My name is Laurent Auffret, and I founded The Queen Is Dead Records in 2015 to develop my own musical projects and help other artists bring theirs to life.

Your music feels too ambitious? Too complex? Too risky? Perfect.
If recording is holding you back and your ideas seem out of reach,
I'm probably the person you're looking for.

I began my journey into music production in 2005 with my own musical project. I am also a music teacher - piano, guitar and vocals - and teach with a pragmatic approach that encourages ambition and makes the most of each person's potential. Today, my equipment and experience are also at the service of other artists.
ince its creation, TQIDr has gradually expanded its activities. Digital distribution has been added to production, recording, arrangements, mixing and mastering. The principle, however, remains the same: to work on a human scale, listen carefully to what I am entrusted with, and find the solution that suits each project rather than applying a formula.
See you soon!
