As a child, Mounir was torn between football and piano. At 14, he eventually decided that Jim Morrison was more charismatic than Maradona. Morrison's poetic power even led him back to the piano more seriously than ever, studying Ray Manzarek's parts and learning to play "Light My Fire" and "Riders on the Storm".

Later, he was drawn to the epic scope of Pink Floyd and wanted to bring the same sense of sonic exploration and ambition to his own compositions. King Crimson's Mellotrons then led him towards heavier musical territories, all the way to Dream Theater.

Mounir left Morocco at 18 to study in Paris. There, he was suddenly able to see his musical heroes - and many other artists - live in concert. That energy proved contagious, and he began writing his first songs with the aim of performing them on stage. His vocal identity became clearer when he discovered Placebo.

With Guillaume on guitar, the beginnings were deliberately modest. They chose the name "The Unplugged Jacks", recording at home and playing small shows. Positive audience feedback and the arrival of Jean-Yves on keyboards gradually pushed the project towards something more ambitious.

It was during this period that they met Laurent Auffret, with whom they worked on their first album, "No Way Back", released on August 6, 2021. For this release, the band was renamed "The Unplugged Brains".

After the album, Mounir continued his musical work as a solo artist under the name Untearable Roots.
