WTFKistan is a collaborative musical and multidisciplinary project created by Mirka, a Uyghur singer and guitarist. The project brings together music, contemporary Uyghur poetry and visual arts, exploring different musical approaches ranging from indie rock to stripped-down lo-fi compositions.

Its repertoire includes original compositions using texts by Uyghur poets, sometimes translated into English. Uyghur poetry and culture are central to the project's artistic identity.

Mirka remains the project's central figure, joined at different stages by musicians and artists. WTFKistan therefore operates as an evolving collaborative project rather than a fixed band, bringing together contributors from different musical and artistic backgrounds.

In 2023, Mirka met The Queen Is Dead Records at the JIMI and presented the project to Laurent Auffret. This meeting led to a collaboration with the label and to the release of "Ahim" on July 5, 2024.
