Recording, capturing what matters

The Queen Is Dead Records studio is based in Colombes, around twenty minutes from Paris Saint-Lazare. It can record one or two sources at a time and is particularly suited to vocals, guitars, basses, keyboards and small acoustic instruments.
More complex projects are built progressively, take by take. Drums can be produced virtually or recorded elsewhere and then integrated into the project. I can simply handle the recording, or become more involved in the performance, arrangements and production when the project calls for it.

RECORDING AND PRODUCTION

  • Recording of vocals, guitars, basses, keyboards and small acoustic instruments

  • Coaching and guidance during recording

  • Artistic direction, sound research and arrangements

  • Programming and production of virtual drums (VST)

  • Integration of drums recorded in another studio or suitable location

  • Re-recording and correction of existing takes

BEFORE THE SESSION

Before recording, I review the project with the artist to assess how well prepared it is: arrangements, lyrics, instrumental parts, performance and sonic intentions.
The aim is to bring the tracks to a sufficient level of maturity before the session, so that essential problems are not discovered once in the studio. I can help with this preparation and suggest possible directions when certain elements still need to be developed.

ON THE DAY OF RECORDING

Preparation does not prevent ideas from emerging during the session. It is always possible to try things out, modify an arrangement, search for a sound or develop a part together.
The aim is simply for this freedom to rest on an already solid foundation, so that studio time can be spent moving the track forward rather than urgently solving problems that could have been dealt with beforehand.

IN THE STUDIO

A few excerpts from sessions recorded at the studio, illustrating different types of instruments and vocal setups.

AFTER RECORDING

Once the recording is complete, the work generally continues with mixing, followed by mastering. These stages help shape the balance and final sound of the track before preparing the files for release. The project can then be supported through to its digital distribution on streaming platforms.

A PROJECT TO RECORD?

Before scheduling a session, I prefer to listen to the project and discuss its current stage, needs and objectives. This makes it possible to determine what may still need to be prepared, estimate the amount of work required and provide an appropriate quote.
