Not much is known about TAPALA.

What we do know is that the duo takes its name from an old nocturnal ritual born in L'Aber-Wrac'h, Finistère, of which TAPALA is said to be an acronym.

We also know that the songs are written in French and that, musically, they move between pop rock, new wave, folk and synth-pop. Daho and The Cure spent a lot of time playing in TAPALA's Walkman. So did New Order, Elliott Smith and many others you may recognise. Or not.

Love, heartbreak, friendship, the sea, cinema, artists, memory and the passing of time are recurring themes for TAPALA, who take their time recording their songs but still have plenty of pop songs waiting in the sea mist...

In the winter of 2023, TAPALA quietly knocked on the door of The Queen Is Dead Records to present their extensive repertoire of songs. Drawn to the duo's world, Laurent Auffret first undertook the restoration, refreshing and sonic homogenisation of older recordings whose original tracks had been lost when a hard drive reached the end of its life. Thus was born "La lumière".

For the next project, the conditions were finally right to start from scratch and build a record exactly as it had originally been imagined. The ambitions were even exceeded.

The seven tracks of the new EP "Omnia", shaped by this long-term work, were released on June 21, 2026, with the arrival of summer.

Two singles then extended the world of "Omnia". "Vautours", released in July, was accompanied by "Carré bleu", a previously unreleased TAPALA track. In September, "L'Aber-Wrac'h" followed, featuring a previously unreleased remix by Blue Chill.
