Workshop / Lab

The workshop brings together projects that require a more specific approach: instrumental contributions, restoration or transformation of a recording, post-production, music creation, or finding a technical solution suited to a particular situation.
The principle remains the same: start with what already exists, understand what the project requires, and find the most appropriate solution, even when it falls outside the usual formats.
INSTRUMENTAL CONTRIBUTIONS
I can create, perform, or rework an instrumental part intended to be integrated directly into an existing project: guitar, bass, keyboards, Ondes Martenot, programming...
The work can start from a guideline, a melody, a MIDI file, an audio track, or simply an intention. I can also analyse the arrangement and mix to identify what may be missing, what is taking up too much space, or what could be replaced to better serve the track. This may lead me to suggest adding an instrument, replacing an existing sound, or finding another way to use the musical space.
Depending on the source material and the needs of the project, I can tighten the timing of a performance, correct certain notes, rework only part of it or, when preferable, re-record the entire part.
I can also suggest different interpretations, virtual instruments, or sounds, convert certain audio parts to MIDI, and test different VSTs or samples. The work can remain strictly faithful to the original part or, with the artist’s agreement, include additional ideas intended to enrich or complete the arrangement.
The service can involve a single track and be delivered as an audio or MIDI file ready to be integrated into the project.
AUDIO RESTORATION AND RECONDITIONING
I can work both on recordings intended for an artistic project and on older, damaged, or problematic sources entrusted to me by artists, music lovers, collectors, or individuals.
The source material may come from vinyl records, cassettes, older recordings, degraded digital files, unique takes, or various archives. Depending on its condition, the work may include reducing hiss, crackle, and unwanted noise, correcting anomalies, overall rebalancing, improving the sound, and, when appropriate, remastering.
For an artist, this may involve recovering an old take, correcting specific issues, restoring a track for a reissue, or making an imperfect source usable again. For a music lover, the aim may simply be to obtain a cleaner, better-balanced version of a recording they care about.
In every case, I aim to improve the source without unnecessarily removing its original character, then prepare a version suited to its final use: listening, archiving, reissue, or digital distribution.
When the source is still on a physical medium, particularly vinyl or cassette, I can also digitise it before carrying out the restoration work.
POST-PRODUCTION AND AUDIO FORMATS
Podcasts, interviews, documentaries, fiction, videos, and other formats may require a different kind of work from a piece of music: editing, transitions, voice cleaning and processing, mixing the various audio elements, or preparing the final material for release.
I can also work on music for visual media, create jingles or theme music, and compose or adapt musical elements intended to accompany a piece of content.
NON-STANDARD PROJECTS
Some requests do not fit neatly into any specific category. That is also part of the workshop’s purpose.
If a project requires an unusual combination of editing, sound transformation, arrangement, restoration, creation, or experimentation, I can assess the available material and look for an appropriate method rather than applying a predefined service.
When the available source material allows it, I can also prepare alternative versions or versions adapted to a specific use: shorter versions, instrumental versions, a cappella versions, stems, or adaptations for visual media.
