Hello, and welcome,
My name is Laurent Auffret, and I founded The Queen Is Dead Records in 2015 to bring both my projects and yours to life. I love pop music just as much as I love experimental sounds.
The Queen Is Dead is the third album by The Smiths, released in 1986 — but I only discovered it in 2002. Obsessed with that album, and eventually with the band itself, I felt the urge to create sincere, ambitiious, and creative music.
The Queen Is Dead Records has its own home studio, tailored to my needs, based in Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine, near Paris). But I also collaborate remotely with artists from Rennes, Lyon, and even Iceland.
Much like Motown, the legendary American label from the '60s, The Queen Is Dead Records carefully selects its artists, initiates projects, and is committed to producing work that is as original as possible.
I’ll be your artistic director and arranger, bringing you into the label family — provided, of course, you share my vision of music and how your work should be approached.
Your music feels too ambitious? Too complex? Too risky? Perfect.
If recording is holding you back and your ideas seem out of reach,
I'm probably the person you're looking for.
I started my journey in music production back in 2005 with my own musical project.
As a music teacher (piano, guitar, vocals), I share a pragmatic approach that encourages ambition and helps artists unlock their full potential. Today, both my equipment and experience are also available to support other artists.
See you soon!
